Big cabbage 1935
Carew and friend digging up a giant cabbage that was grown in a garden at the back of the Royal Hotel in Gulgong in about 1935. One of Carew's nieces, Irene, recalls that the cabbage grew so big because it had been fertilised by elephant manure from the zoo.
Dunedoo races about 1936
Carew and his pub staff ran a tent pub at the Dunedoo races in about 1936.
